Dr. Hu has excellent experience in mentoring trainees at different levels. Many of his trainees have received international and national awards, accepted into top graduate schools (like Oxford, Cambridge, UCLA, CMU, Toronto, UBC, McGill), employed in high-tech companies (like Google, Microsoft, Amazon), and achieved the notable milestone of tenure-track assistant professor positions in Canada.

1. Department of Biochemistry

We have internal funds to support 1-2 summer, co-op, or internship research students every year.
Applicants should have backgrounds in statistics, computer science, or human genetics or chemistry with strong programming skills.
Applicants who are interested in applying for federal and local funding (NSERC Undergraduate Summer Research Award, CIHR Undergraduate Summer Student Health Research Award, etc.) for summer research, please contact the PI to discuss the applications as early as possible (December - February).
For all applicants, you should have a GPA >3.5 of 4.
